  • Dr. Md. Zia Uddin has been working as an associate professor in the Department of Pharmacy at the BGC Trust University Bangladesh. He is currently working on traditional, complementary & alternative medicines of Bangladesh. His area of research also, focuses on the different biological activities of plant extracts and molecular docking, and ADME/T property analysis of isolated compounds from various medicinal plants. Fundamentally, his research interest is to develop a bridge between wet and dry lab efforts, especially on natural products with therapeutic value. Besides this, his interest is to understand the phenotypic expression of different cardiovascular and neurodegenerative aging-related diseases. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers, posters, and abstracts in the above research areas. He supervised many B. Pharm Project students. His current Google Scholar citation count is 389, and his h-index is 12 and i10-index is 14.

    Research Experience:

    1. As Associate Investigator: Currently I have been working as Associate Investigator of a research project entitled “Investigation of oxidative stress, cardioprotective, hepatoprotective, immunomodulating and neuroprotective effects of some pharmacologically unveiled traditionally used medicinal plants” funded by Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
    2. As Ph. D. Scholar: I have pursued PhD research entitled “Exploration of Bio-activity Guided Phytochemicals and Elemental Profiles of Selected Medicinal Plants Traditionally Used in Chattogram Hill Tracts, Bangladesh” in the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Biological Sciences, Jahangirnagar University, Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
    3. As Post-Graduate Researcher: Phytochemicals and Pharmacological investigations of crude methanol extract of Crinum asiaticum. I have pursued this research in my Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharm) as a Research Associate of Department of Pharmacy, Southern University, Bangladesh.
    4. As Under-Graduate Researcher: Phytochemicals and Pharmacological investigations of crude ethanol leaf extract of Blumea lacera. I have pursued this research in the final year of my B. Pharm (Hons.)  degree from the Department of Pharmacy, University of Science & Technology, Chittagong (USTC), Bangladesh.
    5.  As Research Supervisor: Since January 2009, I have been supervising B. Pharm. (Hon’s.) students at the Department of Pharmacy, BGC Trust University Bangladesh.
